NEW YORK - Aug. 11, 2019 - The Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) initiative is one of the largest and most effective programs focused on increasing the college and career readiness of low-income students in communities nationwide.
GEAR UP: Be What You Wanna Be is a fun role-playing simulation mobile game developed by Gear Up Studio to mentor high school students on their preferred mode of communication. This entertaining strategy game introduces high school students to many GEAR UP activities, for example, introduction STEM, taking rigorous courses, enrollment in Advanced Placement, and International Baccalaureate course. The game also teaches a strategy for generating funds needed for career-building activities, seeking financial aid and loans for college.
But college may not be an option for everyone, and students can explore many employment-ready course options available. Gifted students don't have to compromise on education as the only option, and these game mentors students to use their talents in art, music, sports, literature to find resources to pursue alternate careers.
The game is available for FREE download and objective of the game is to complete a set of activities to earn enough experience for a career in the chosen field.
