NORCROSS, Ga. - Aug. 5, 2019 - STW, a premier provider for mobile automation, digitalization and electrification solutions, announced an important research partnership with the Fraunhofer Institute for Transportation and Infrastructure Systems IVI in Dresden for the collaborative R&D project "Machine Automation Lab".

STW has already been working on several innovations powering autonomously working machines. To build on this work, in July, 2019, STW announced a partnership with the Fraunhofer Institute for Transportation and Infrastructure Systems IVI in Dresden for the collaborative R&D project "Machine Automation Lab". On 11 July 2019, an event was held to celebrate the cooperation, at which the research group's logo was presented to the public in a symbolic unveiling ceremony.

The Machine Automation Lab has the objective of bundling infrastructure and know-how to develop new technologies and products for autonomous working machines and commercial vehicles.

Through this partnership, Fraunhofer IVI is granted early access to R&D topics that are relevant to the market and potential clients for new technology developments. STW and its clients will benefit from the scientific expertise and infrastructure of the Fraunhofer IVI for their pre-development of highly automated products.

Over the coming years, the partners will be intensively addressing themselves to the research and development of autonomous machines within the scope of the joint research group "Machine Automation Lab". Many state-of-the-art projects in autonomous working machines are planned. These include autonomous robots, an autonomous depot and highly automated working processes.
