Recognized as a champion for underprivileged and deprived communities, Sherrie Gearheart (founder of the Live Out Loud Charity) will visit Liberia to inspire young people after the Ebola Crisis, deliver message about suicide prevention, HIV, and provide women empowerment awareness into local schools and communities.
Liberia is Africa's oldest republic nation with about 85% of the population living below the international poverty line. The country is recovering from two civil wars and the recent Ebola crisis. “When I learned that there are people in Liberia especially the children who struggle to survive daily and live in extreme poverty, I vowed to make a difference. Liberia is a third world country that is very poor and has lost so much hope as a result of the recent Ebola crisis. Together we can make the nation stronger and give hope. We will save lives and inspire the youth to be anything they want to do.” stated Gearheart who raised funding for her trip through fundraising activities of the Live Out Loud Charity and the Bill Rogers Youth Foundation (BRYF). Ms. Gearheart gives seminars to adults of all ages, teaching them the signs of suicide, and how to intervene to stop this preventable cause of death. For the youth, she teaches self-esteem courses and a Core Character Development program she created with the approval of doctors, social workers, principals, and students.
