Council on Aging (COA) Volusia Raises $10,000 for Senior Programs in Volusia County, Florida

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – COA (Council on Aging) of Volusia County recently held their second “Senior Prom”, a special evening out for senior citizens in Volusia County, and raised over $10,000 net for senior services and programs in Volusia County.

“The seniors who braved the lingering rains from Hurricane Joaquin as it moved north were treated to an elegant evening of dancing at the Ocean Center. Their enthusiasm at being at “A Night under the Stars” was contagious. Everyone who attended came away with a smile knowing that their fun evening helps support needy seniors here in our community,” said COA Marketing Director Cathy Coates. “We invite folks of all ages to join us next year to make this fundraiser even more successful. Caring for seniors who cannot care for themselves only makes our community stronger and a better place to live.”

Event sponsors included FPL, Halifax Health Hospice, Healthways SilverSneakers, Humana, Island Doctors, MetCare, Seniors Today and Volusia/Flagler YMCA as Star Sponsors; The Cloisters, Florida Health Care Plans, Premier Bathing Care and WSBB AM 1230 as Gold Sponsor. COA recognizes these partners for their continued support of our community. The COA Senior Prom Committee chaired by Meg Hudson of Humana says plans are underway to repeat this great event in 2016 – so watch for more information so you too can join us in raising funds for our needy seniors.
