Richard Elfman and company will do short live performance at the Alamo Drafthouse--Ritz October 26, followed by his musical-fantasy, Forbidden Zone (color version). The film stars Susan Tyrrell (Fat City), Herve Villechaise (Fantasy Island) and features music by Richard’s brother Danny Elfman and their ensemble, the Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo.
Richard’s pre-shows have gained a lively reputation and he claims his Drafthouse antics will not disappoint—with a bit of bawdy burlesque by Dahlia Dimont and some hot local talent plus the Mystic Knights of Texas Percussion and Tuba Marching Ensemble.
Forbidden Zone was originally released in 1982 and has subsequently acquired a world-wide cult following. Richard says that now that he is rested from the first he is ready to shoot the upcoming sequel: Forbidden Zone 2, which will also feature original tunes by Danny Elfman, including a comic/poignant aerial ballet performed by Richard’s daughter-in-law Jenna Elfman (Dharma and Greg).
Forbidden Zone is scheduled for deluxe edition DVD and Blu-Ray release October 29 by MVD Entertainment.
