Mahendra Engineering College (MEC) has been transforming engineering education in the state for nearly three decades now. As a top ranking engineering college in Namakkal, Tamil Nadu, MEC believes in fostering all-round growth and development. Through its Entrepreneurship Development wing, MEC provides its student industry-focused training that helps create graduates who have the necessary skills to start their own venture.
Since its inception, the institution’s Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP) has been successfully creating highly-skilled individuals who are industry-ready. EDP organises and supports a wide range of events that strive to hone the technical and strategic business skills of all its students.
During the recently concluded 4-day ‘Entrepreneurship Training Workshop’, MEC students were provided the opportunity to work with industry leaders and gain a comprehensive understanding of their chosen field of expertise. The chief focus during the 4-day training programme was to enable students to gain practical insights and also develop key business management skills.
Speaking about the institution’s entrepreneurship development initiatives, M.G.Bharath Kumar, Founder & Chairman of Mahendra Educational Trust, stated, “At Mahendra, we strive to provide education that can transform lives. For nearly three decades our rigorous curriculum has been instrumental in creating high-calibre industry-ready individuals. MET’s Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP) is an extension of our vision to expand the learning horizons of our students. And throughout the year EDP focuses on developing their strategic business competencies and skills.”
Over the course of the academic year, Mahendra Engineering College collaborates with a wide range of industry leaders and entrepreneurship development organisations that provide focused learning experiences for its students. While the primary emphasis is on developing practical skills, EDP initiatives also trains students on acquiring the requisite industry knowledge.
Through regular workshops and training programmes, EDP helps students to meet and intern with organisations in their field of study and also take-up practical learning assignments that help hone their skills.
Elaborating further about their 4-Day workshop, M.G.Bharath Kumar, stated, “Every year MEC collaborates with leading organisations and government institutions to conduct workshops and training programmes. Through our industry tie-ups we not only help strengthen the capacity and aspirations of our students to start their own enterprises, but we also strive to develop an entrepreneurial culture. Our chief focus is to help students make the best career decisions. And through regular industry-specific entrepreneurial training we ensure that our students have the best possible choices to chart their own paths of success.”
