On August 29th, 2015 the SkepDakota conference took place with speakers from all over the region. Conferences like SkepDakota are not uncommon, however, one unique aspect of this conference was the technology used to run the conference - nearly all was provided by Gigastrand.
"The conference organizers used a Chromebook, there were a few Macs and one Windows PC." Gigastrand founder and SkepDakota technologist Josh Tordsen explains."We provided an Android tablet and Square reader for the box office. Everything else at the center of the conference ran through the Gigastrand OS"
One of the speakers needed to teleconference in. Using a Gigastrand OS laptop the speaker was able to speak using Google Hangouts.
"We did have some kind of mic issue, however, we were able to bring her in anyway. We took video of the speakers at the conference and will be processing the video using the Gigastrand OS using OpenShot. It was a great test for our software."
The version used at the conference was Gigastrand OS v2.2. Gigastrand OS v3.0 was released September 1st.
