Dubai media production company, One Nine Seven One Media (1971 Productions) has acquired the US film and television rights to American author and playwright Farzana Moon’s successful series of fact-based historical novels that chart the growth and fall of the Mogul Empire. The agreement means that the Emirati film company now has international ownership of any screen adaptation that will be made from six of the seven novels in the series, the latest of which was published over the summer of 2015 by Cambridge Scholars Publishing UK.
Commenting on the acquisition, One Nine Seven Media's Marketing Manager and VP Hussein AlAtoli said, “Obtaining the film rights for this series of books represents an exciting opportunity for us to work on a unique project. What we have planned is extraordinary and will be a cross media and multi-platform edutainment project that will cater to an international audience, as well as those in The Middle East and Asia”.
He added, “This will be a lengthy project, however we are collaborating with several media organizations both regionally and internationally, to bring it to fruition - the details of which we will announce in time."
As the author of the Moghul series, an epic collection of books spanning hundreds of years, Farzana Moon has also published a number of other titles globally. Her works have been on stage and published in literary journals as required reading for academics and scholars. She is a professor, historian and playwright.
In addition to developing corporate videos and TV commercials, as well as producing films for marketing and social media purposes, One Nine Seven One Media is involved in the development of feature length film projects for television and cinema.
