Marlow Navigation participated at the 14th Maritime Cyprus conference, held in Limassol, 13-16 September, 2015.
“The Maritime Cyprus conference is an important platform for establishing and strengthening relationships within the industry, and of course for promoting Cyprus as a key maritime centre, particularly in crew and ship management services,” states joint Managing Director, Marlow Navigation, Andreas Neophytou.
“This year’s conference has been one of the most successful ever for Marlow Navigation. Together with our new global branding efforts, re-affirming our company’s leading position. We would like to thank all for visiting us during the event, especially our international delegation, and look forward to continued partnership,” he adds.
The Maritime Cyprus conference is a biennial event, operating as a forum where major and current issues to the international shipping community are discussed. This year’s event attracted more than 700 participants from around 35 countries. Among them experts and representatives of intergovernmental organisations, such as the Secretary General of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO). The conference was officially opened by H.E. the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nicos Anastasiades.
The theme this year was “Game Change”, with a focus on geopolitical developments and their effect on global shipping. Issues that were discussed at the conference included policy and regulatory matters and the forthcoming changes in the international shipping scenery, economic matters, environmental matters and their interaction with technology, geopolitical and energy developments and forecasting for the recovery of the economy and for the freight markets.
“The shipping industry is a vital pillar in the Cyprus economy, stable and resilient, as well as an important hub for the wider European maritime sector. Events such as Maritime Cyprus help ensure its continued growth,” concludes Neophytou.
