It has been acknowledged by many as a very helpful tool to showcase their talent in this very challenging field of books and publishing.
This book is a very intense and engaging story, set in the year 1960. Belgian Congo is granted independence, and what a freedom it turns out to be. The country is totally unprepared to take over the reins from the whites, who run the show after their evacuation following mutiny by the local black army.
The UNO steps in to restore some order in the total chaos prevailing.
Eva, a young Canadian nurse, desperate to get away from the stifling atmosphere at work and a stepmother at home, opts to work for the UN mission in Congo.
Captain Gulshan , a young army surgeon from India also lands there with his country’s contribution to the UN effort. A chance meeting and the two soon turn into passionate lovers in that Bush country.
While saving a friend, Eva is taken away by masked men, out to take revenge after the murder of a popular ex-prime minister. She is saved in the nick of time from gang rape by the tribesmen, the others are not that lucky.
To overcome the mental trauma, Captain Gulshan and Eva go on a month’s holiday to Europe. They have a wonderful time.
Do the lover’s problems ever end? Eva finds herself pregnant and returns to Canada.
Captain Gulshan too returns to India and is taken a prisoner in the war with a neighbouring country.
The book leaves the readers wondering will their love get them together again?
Author Kul Bhushan Goyle graduated from a medical college and joined the Indian Air Force as a medical officer upon which he served the country for over twenty years. This gave him an opportunity to work across the country and even abroad, including Africa. After saying good bye to the service, his avenue of work entailed active private practice. With a burning desire to write outside his profession, Dr. Kul Bhushan could not give time to his passion as the demands of his medical profession hardly left any time to do so. Ultimately, on retiring from a long career, he got the time to pen down “Pollens are Colour Blind” using his personal knowledge of the life in the dark continent. He now lives in New Delhi with his wife.
