Rumored to release in early September, the iPhone 6S contains subtle changes in design from its predecessor the iPhone 6. However, these new features allow the iPhone 6S to be more user friendly and offer a variety of additional colors. Since the devil is in the details, let’s dive right in to the new features this phone promises:
Force Touch display – Similar to the Apple Watch, this new feature works by allowing the user to press firmly on the screen to bring up additional controls in applications
Upgraded camera - The new iPhone 6S will feature a 12 megapixel camera (compared to the 8 megapixel camera on the iPhone 6)
Thicker back housing – This will allow the phone to be less bendable
Larger Battery - This should improve the battery life of the device
Upgraded processor – The iPhone 6S operates on the A9 processor (versus the A8 processor on the iPhone 6)
New colors – The new iPhone will be manufactured in many new colors such as: rose gold, gold, silver, and space gray
Thinner design for the volume rocker, mute switch, and the power button
Gorilla Glass – The new iPhone will feature Gorilla Glass (not sapphire as rumored)
Single flex cable on the LCD – Compared to its predecessor (which featured multiple flex cables), the iPhone 6S will feature a single flex cable for the mute button, volume rockers, flash, and the power button
As you can see, there is not a huge difference in the appearance of the iPhone 6S when compared to the iPhone 6. However, these changes made to the internal functionality of the phone should improve the user experience with the device.
