Annual Diabetes Crosswalk Nov 15th,2015 Nashville, TN

I would like to introduce you to Steven Alexander. Steven lives with type 1 diabetes. He has a passion for helping others and is an avid racing fan/ sports writer. He pours a lot of time into reaching out and helping others with diabetes.

Imagine having to constantly pricking your finger to draw blood to constantly monitor your body's blood glucose level, at various times through out every day of your life, in order to keep your health from slipping--constantly being vigilant of your diet. Sometimes giving yourself shots or having a insulin pump attached to you, because if your blood level reaches a negative level, it affects your senses and mobility, ultimately having long term consequences on your health and having a large impact on your life.

Millions of people go through these trial and tribulations on a daily basis. One in four Americans have diabetes and are completely unaware of it. This could be you.

"Diabetes is an undeniable threat to so many of our family members, friends, neighbors and colleagues. The CDC reports that a staggering 29 million Americans, and 12% of U.S. adults, already have diabetes, with another 86 million at high risk of developing the chronic disease. It estimates that by 2025, one in five Americans will suffer from diabetes, and, if this trend goes unchecked, one in three by 2050."

Quote taken from the Diabetes Charities of America Website

People who live with diabetes can tend to isolate themselves and fall into depression. We all have family, friends, and neighbors with diabetes. But there is hope. There are scientists, doctors, and many other members of the medical community, working around the clock on finding a cure and finding solutions for those who live with this disease.

Then ther are also many people like Steven that try to reach out and help others find hope. He and many others make it part of there daily life to reach out to other diabetics and let them know they are not alone. Outa The Rut Ministries was started by Steven Alexander as a faith based diabetes ministry to help others find hope.
