BUEA, Cameroon -- Saint Monica University (SMU): The American International University today announced that it has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the International Institute of Certified Forensic Investigation Professionals (IICFIP) that will make it possible for qualified members of the Institute to earn SMU degrees in Forensic Accounting and Criminal Investigation.
SMU, with its main campus in Buea, and IICFIP, with its African headquarters in Yaounde, reached the agreement on Monday, July 20, 2015, in Buea, Southwest, Cameroon. This is the second MOU that SMU is signing with IICFIP. The previous one made it possible for IICFIP fellows to receive credits toward an SMU degree. This one takes the relationship further by allowing IICFIP to run a training program under the auspices of SMU, which will lead to graduates of the program earning SMU undergraduate and graduate degrees.
“We are very happy to upgrade our relationship with IICFIP,” said Professor Januarius Jingwa Asongu, President and Chief Executive Officer of SMU. “By this MOU, Saint Monica University is offering affiliation to the International Institute of Certified Forensic Investigation Professionals and granting it the authority to train students who will be awarded SMU degrees.”
Mr. Linus Enobi Akepe, Director of IICFIP, who signed the agreement on behalf of his organization stated: “We are very happy with the confidence bestowed on us by SMU and we won’t betray the trust. We have hundreds of members globally who stand to benefit from this relationship.”
“This agreement is well crafted to ensure the integrity of our programs,” said Mr. Elvis Akomoneh, Associate Vice President of Partnerships at SMU, who said signed the deal on behalf of the University. “The MOU provides for the supervision of the academic activities of IICFIP in order to guarantee quality preparation of students for the award of SMU degrees; the organization of conferences to reinforce the theoretical and practical aspects of teaching and research; and the periodic evaluation of IICFIP academic programs by SMU in order to ensure quality.”
