SANTA MONICA, Calif. -- Ever had a conversation with your girlfriend that after ten seconds headed straight south and within five minutes the talking stopped and one of you grabbed your pillow and headed into the other room for a night of staring into the darkness and then saying to yourself, “What the f%#@ was that all about?”

If after a few choice words, things can deteriorate that quickly, wouldn’t it be great to have at hand a few choice words that can pivot your relationship in the other direction and get it back on track?

If giving your girlfriend a solution or advice only makes things worse, it’s because you’re doing what you need to make you feel better and not giving her what she needs.

If you’re a boyfriend or husband, ask your girlfriend or wife to watch this short video conversation catalyst and if she watches and agrees with it, ask her to explain what that’s all about and then, “just listen.”

On the other hand if you’re a girlfriend or wife with a boyfriend or husband who just doesn’t get it and trying to explain to him how what he doesn’t get only makes it worse, ask him to listen to this video. Then tell him that’s what you’ve been trying to tell him for a long time and ask him if he wants to understand why. If he agrees, tell him you’re deflecting a lot of your frustration that you feel towards him and lots of things because you see him as strong and then when you get it off your chest, you’ll calm yourself down and be able to have the calm conversation with him that he wants.
