Temploy announces sizeable stake acquisition to boost employment levels in Singapore and Indonesia

With mass unemployment in the region, coupled with difficulty in engaging manpower, Temploy was launched in late last year to automate the pairing of temporary workers to employers while aligning both parties' expectations. The deal with WGS deal will give Singaporean and Indonesian businesses access to employee candidates to solve chronic shortfalls in manpower.

"Temploy can help hundreds of thousands underemployed people in Indonesia to fare better and be happier", says Ikin Wirawan, Chairman of WGS, based in Bandung, Indonesia. "And WGS through its engineering capacity and capability will help Temploy achieve its vision and expand throughout Asia in the next few years."

Temploy was among the top 8 finalists in leading regional news network ChannelNewsAsia's hit reality series "Start-Up". Through the show, Koh showed his tenacity and Temploy's potential, catching the attention of Ikin.

As a software outsourcing firm, WGS is acutely aware of the need for temporary employment. As the demand for web and app development rose 8 years ago, Ikin started with a team of 4. Today, with over 200 developers coding day and night for hundreds of projects in 25 countries, the firm is thriving in providing part-time work.

The mutually beneficial deal between Temploy and WGS will also see a leveraging of services across the borders. The Temploy platform will now be able to offer part-time developers from Indonesia to Singaporean business at attractive rates. WGS will create an Indonesia office for Temploy to allow all employers to find temporary employees and vice versa.

Temploy's business model is simply to charge candidates a single dollar (1 USD or 13,000 IDR) for a successful match and employers twice that for a vacancy slot. In the near future, Temploy will also have a mobile app (iOS / Android) for easier access on-the-go.

"We've always been keen and wary on Indonesia due to the sheer market size," says Mark Koh, CEO of Temploy. "In WGS, we found the perfect partner who understands our business and has the capability to bring Temploy to 11 million part-timers in the country"

The startup's web-app is available at http://beta.temploy.com and already has users in its native Singapore, Johor (Malaysia), Bangkok (Thailand), Hungary and soon all around Indonesia.

Additional Information:

Beating out over 200 applicants, Temploy was amongst the top 8 startups in ChannelNewsAsia's "Start-Up" season 2. Temploy is also featured in Echelon Thailand marketplace at the latter's main conference held in Bangkok at the Sasin Graduate school of business 18-19 September as a selected member of the top 20 startups this year.
