“The Hire Me or Run Me Over” fundraising campaign starts on Indie Gogo on March 9, 2015 for the Nate Smith screenplay entitled, “The Man Behind Black Monday.” The screenplay is inspired by actual events from the incredible life of civil rights rebel, Nate Smith.

Ellis R. McGruder III, one of the producers, states that “Nate was known for saying that every man should be able to have bacon and eggs on Sunday morning. Nate believed that people should not just survive, but live.” Nate fought hard his whole life to make sure that minority construction workers in the US had food on his table and could provide for his family. This is a theme in the screenplay that we think most people will relate to.”

This screenplay is not a bio-pic, but a dramatic piece based upon the events in Nate Smith’s life and also the culminating events that led to the largest protest in Pittsburgh’s history.
Funds raised will be use for the final screenplay editing, marketing, and development expenses.
One of the other producers, Nicole McGruder, states that “We hope that beyond reaching our fundraising goals for this important story, that bringing Nate Smith back into the country’s consciousness will also be a positive call to action for leaders in wait.”
