Gcc Business Leaders Forum In Dubai Next Week Will Focus On Big Data

DUBAI INTERNET CITY, UAE -- A high-level GCC conference about the potential benefits of Big Data for the region’s public and private sectors opens next week, running at Dubai’s Address Marina Hotel from March 8-10, 2015.

At the GCC BIG DATA SUMMIT, delegates will listen to scores of timely use cases, detailing successes and explaining failures – with practical illustrations from highly experienced international government, telecoms, airline, banking, energy, healthcare and utilities experts.

Demystifying and applying the lessons of Big Data analytics is the key challenge for leading GCC-based institutions and enterprises in the next three years, according to industry specialists. One particular requirement is to train up a new generation of analysts who are equipped to tackle the complex tasks involved in the actual analysis of the data sets collected.

“Harvesting of data is one thing,” says Summit Director Kumar Ramanujam of TMC Conferences, “but it’s the ability to interpret it to management that really counts!”

One believer in the need for in-depth training is Dr. Satyam Priyadarshy, Chief Data Scientist at oil services giant Halliburton in Texas, USA. He calls Big Data “the second industrial revolution” and will deliver an educational masterclass at the Summit, “… to deliver a 7-step process to create meaningful Big Data analytics, based on pattern-based strategy.”

Another strong supporter of the Summit and its aims is the IE Business School in Madrid, Spain.

Lee Newman, the school’s Dean of Innovation & Behavior, said last week:“Leading companies are scrambling to understand how to use Analytics and Big Data to transform the foundations of their businesses and uncover new sources of value in their industries.”

IE Business School is recognized as one of the world's top business schools, and was recently rated as No. 1 business school in Europe by the Financial Times newspaper.

Dr. Newman added, “Our Master in Business Analytics and Big Data is designed to train a new generation of data-driven and innovation-oriented professionals who will help companies and organizations optimize their performance through analytics.”

His views were echoed by Summit speaker Dr. Mohamed Guidom, who told the Summit’s Advisory Board meeting in January: “One of the biggest problems facing the IT industry is where the next generation of analysts will come from.”

Alongside Dr. Guidom, each speaker at the SUMMIT is a recognised thought-leader. Presenters include senior specialists from UK Cabinet Office, Etisalat, Injazat, DU Telecoms, Emirates Airline, Etihad Airways, Halliburton, ADNOC, ADCB, Gulf Air, ADWEA, Daman and Mobily.

This senior-management-only GCC forum has been designed for CEO and COO level participants – just as much as for CTOs and CIOs.

The full conference programme, with speakers’ topics, is available on the GCC BIG DATA & ANALYTICS SUMMIT website, www.gccbigdata.com or from the organisers on info@tmc-me.com.
