SARASOTA, Fla. -- Wilma Thornton has joined RE/MAX Alliance Group as a salesperson and licensed assistant with the Chicoine Realty Group in the RE/MAX Sarasota office. She holds a broker’s license and is a Graduate of the Realtor Institute (GRI).
Originally from Yazoo City, Mississippi, Thornton was licensed to sell real estate in Mississippi and Tennessee. From the beginning, her sales performance earned her membership in Mississippi's North DeSoto County Board of Realtor’s Million Dollar Club.
Upon moving to Sarasota, Thornton received her Florida real estate license in 1999 and her broker's license in 2002. As an agent with Prudential Cascade Realty, she specialized in waterfront properties on Phillippi Creek, where she lived with her husband, insurance company executive Wink Thornton. She also helped investors locate and obtain rental property in the Sarasota County area.
In 2004, her husband's work took them to Plano, Texas. After he retired in 2006, they lived aboard a Great Harbour Trawler, cruising as far north as Newport, Rhode Island, and as far south as the Dry Tortugas and the Bahamas. She was the 2008 Vice President and the 2010 President of the Great Harbour Trawler Association, and Secretary of the Royal Marsh Harbour Yacht Club in the Bahamas in 2009 and 2010. She later joined her brother in operating a horse-boarding facility in Keller, Texas.
The Thorntons returned to Sarasota in 2014, and once again live in the Phillippi Creek area. Wilma is based in the RE/MAX Alliance Group Sarasota office at 2000 Webber Street, Sarasota, Florida 34239. She can be reached at (941) 724-9673 or Wilma@crgsrq.com.
