D Train to Perform at The Kennedy Center Honors

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Kennedy Center has selected acclaimed Singer/Songwriter D Train to perform at the 37th Annual Kennedy Center Honors in Washington D.C. on December 7, 2014. This is the 3rd year in a row he has been selected, having performed with Garth Brooks, Sheila E., Steve Winwood and many others in previous years. This year’s Kennedy Center Honors is being hosted by comedian Stephen Colbert.

The Kennedy Center Honors recognizes living individuals who have made significant contributions to American culture through the performing arts. This year’s honorees include Al Green, Tom Hanks, Sting, Lily Tomlin and Patricia McBride.

A recording artist and concert performer, D Train initially rose to prominence in the early 1980’s on the R&B and Dance music scene with numerous hit singles. His career continued to flourish in many areas, including songwriting credits for artists such as Patti Austin and the late George Duke as well as his own radio and talk program, “The D Train Show” which ran for several years on SiriusXM. DTrain is also one of the prominent jingle writers in the industry.

D Train’s commitment to the Kennedy Center’s mission statement has brought him once again to the Honors. “It’s a great privilege to perform for President Obama and the First Lady for 3 years now.” D Train said. “I cannot thank Rob Mathes enough for bringing me onboard.” Mathes is the Producer of Sting’s new Broadway musical “The Last Ship”.

D Train’s hit song “You’re the One for Me” can be heard on Rockstar Games “Grand Theft Auto V” (scheduled for re-release on PS4 and Xbox One on November 18th). D Train’s latest CD “The Other Side of the Tracks” is scheduled for release Summer 2015.
