HYDERABAD, India -- The Hon. Australian Federal Minister for Industry Mr Ian Mcfarlane and Indian Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya were both on hand earlier this week to commemorate the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between First Impressions Resources, the Australian Retail College (ARC) and the Retail Association Skills Council of India (RASCI).
During his keynote address Minister Macfarlane launched the innovative vocational education and training pilot programme to be trialled in India over the next 12 months.
The programme will be delivered by Australian registered training providers working with either industry, Indian training providers or governments. The courses will be delivered under the Australia Future Unlimited brand.
“India needs thousands of additional trainers and assessors as it strives to skill 500 million people by 2022 and Australia is a nation with training expertise,” Minister Macfarlane said.
This program will see 100 retail trainers and assessors trained to international standards, in the first of a series of transnational qualifications.
The commitment to improving the capability of retail trainers and assessors was reaffirmed by RASCI CEO and Vice President James Raphael and Sue Freeman, Director of the Australian Retail College (ARC) upon the signing of the MOU.
ARC is an organisation of particular significance to Minister Bandaru Dattatreya as it has established its Indian head office in his home state of Telangana.
