INDIANAPOLIS -- scientia potentia es – Knowledge is Power

The phrase “scientia potentia est“ (or “scientia est potentia“or also “scientia potestas est“), Latin for “knowledge is power”, is appropriately the motto of the International Honor Society.

The International Honor Society (www.intlhs.org (http://www.intlhs.org) ) is the world’s preeminent organization established to recognize outstanding students. IHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Honored members have earned the right to claim their place among histories leaders.

Chances are most of us have heard the phrase “knowledge is power” — but may not fully understand how to translate this into improving our lives in a practical way.

Academic achievement is the foundation of success, but students today need more than just good grades to prosper. The International Honor Society serves as a clearinghouse of new ideas and seeks to empower students with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in school and life
