SAN DIEGO -- September 6, 2014 – Torrance, CA – The L.A. Wolves FC (http://www.lasoccernews.com/amateur/amateur2.php?article_id=12595) (ps 2-0-0) (www.LAWolves.com (http://www.lawolves.com/)) scored a second straight victory on Saturday night in its second pre-season match of the year with a 2-1 victory over the L.A. Penmar FC (UPSL) at Toyota Park in Torrance, Ca. L.A. Wolves Colombian Forward Luis Trujillo netted two goals for the Wolves giving him four goals in the Wolves first two pre-season matches.
The match started out much like the Wolves previous match versus Orange County, with both teams getting a feel for each other. The Wolves had numerous scoring opportunities from Forward Andrea Toroldo but Penmar’s Goalkeeper was on his top game and held Toroldo off the score sheet on three separate goal scoring opportunities. After a first half battle that ended in a 0-0 halftime score, the Wolves final got on the board and took the lead on a nicely played give and go pass on top of the box from Wolves Forward Andre Turoldo to Forward Luis Trujillo in the 64th minute to give the Wolves the 1-0 lead. The Wolves scored a second goal to take a 2-0 lead in the 78’ minute after nice ball from midfielder George Lopez to Luis Trujillo who netted his second goal on a nice individual effort beating two penmarplayers and the keeper. Lopez ended up pulling a hamstring and needed to be subbed out which ended his night. Penmar got on the board in the 84’ minute on a Wolves breakdown in defense but the Wolves held on to score the 2-1 victory keeping the Wolves undefeated in pre-season play.
Wolves Argentinean midfielder Martin Lenzner and Midfileder Sury Ibrahim’s battled hard the whole night to keep the flow of play circulating for the Wolves and at the same time they both played hard with their physical game. Wolves goalkeeper Eduardo Ciriaco posted his second win in goal for the Wolves as Ciriaco had another solid night in the nets.
Yan Skwara (http://www.latintimes.com/reporters/yan-skwara), President/General Manager of L.A. Wolves stated, “Penmar FC is a good club and the game was a good test for us tonight . The boys did what they had to do to win the game but it was not a game that I thought was our best futbol. We had our moments of decent possession but we were not holding the ball long enough as that is what we will continue to work on in practice and into next weeks match.”
