DALLAS -- Ever wonder what goes on in the minds of children? Children exhibit creativity and exploration in various ways and at different ages. Capturing and nurturing this imagination is a critical point in guiding the experiences and direction a child will make. A natural interest in science, technology, engineering and math can be developed at a very early age, even as early as elementary school.
Recognizing the ability to develop a team of young entrepreneurs and leaders, DFW Excellerator (http://dfwkidstarter.org) has launched the KidStarter program. Saturday, September 06, 2014 will be the first, with others following every month.
“For the past month, we’ve hosted the SAP Startup Accelerator seminar with TiE, led several teams in the NTx App Challenge, and helped one of our members win major business competition in Silicon Valley. We hope to extend our success to the children of our community with KidStarter program,” says Jason Liu, Founder and Managing Director of DFW Excellerator.
When interest in the sciences is exhibited at this early age, it is advantageous to encourage and offer training to develop the passion, just as an athlete is encouraged along the way. Team building sports take on many different formats from the sports field to organizations, and children learn so much from participating in team building as well as individual activities. DFW Excellerator is an organization which nurtures this passion in adults and now with children, the next generation.
“We are thrilled to announce the launch of DFW KidStarter; an interactive series of workshops for kids to participate in their own maker program. Makers are innovative, hands-on creative people that build a product using do-it-yourself techniques.” explains Maria Smith, Program Director of DFW Excellerator. “The KidStarter program aims to nurture a passion for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) in kids age 6 and up by way of fun and cooperative building sessions.”
The STEM Education Coalition works aggressively to raise awareness in Congress, the Administration, and other organizations about the critical role that STEM education plays in enabling the U.S. to remain the economic and technological leader of the global marketplace of the 21st century. Members of the STEM Coalition believe that our nation must improve the way our students learn science, mathematics, technology and engineering and that the business, education, and STEM communities must work together to achieve this goal.
“The central mission of the STEM Education Coalition is to inform federal and state policymakers on the critical role that science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education plays in U.S. competitiveness and future economic prosperity.” from Stem Education Coalition, www.stemedcoalition.org
