Lisa Albinger's Cornucopia Dreams comes to Shade West Gallery

PHOENIX -- September welcomes a new exhibition “Cornucopia Dreams” featuring local artist Lisa Albinger. This solo exhibition highlights nine recent paintings exploring a transition experienced between September 2013-August 2014 by the artist. Work includes Human-animal hybrid beings speak of honoring one’s body, and overcoming obstacles. The larger abstract pieces from my current body of work, The V Experience, encompass a cross pollination between unabashed sexuality, health, and maps. Combined with found materials that create a visceral and interactive modern environment. Society is increasingly forced to face the ultimately inescapable issues of gender, health, sexuality and self. Maps weave a web between these fragile fragments and somehow continue to guide us on our journey.

In 2014, her work has been shown at the AZ Science Center planetarium, R. Pela Contemporary Gallery, Phoenix Center for the Arts, Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum, and featured on PBS’s Arizona Horizon program. Lisa’s work has been published in over 20 publications and is in the Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum Permanent Collection.

Mark your calendars and join us for the Artist Reception which will be held on Saturday, September 20th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. The night will include your chance to meet this fascinating artist, enjoy live painting, and more!

Shade West Gallery is located in the west wing of the Renaissance Phoenix Downtown Hotel (http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/phxbd-renaissance-p...), located at 50 E Adams St., Phoenix
