Cosmo films launched its third manufacturing plant in Shendra, Aurangabad in September last year which is fully operational now and working at full capacity to meet the growing export and international operations demands; originating largely from Europe, Japan and Americas.
The $45 million Shendra plant, which is dedicated to handle the export requirements of the company, is located in the Special Economic Zone (SEZ), close to Aurangabad, 450 km from Mumbai. The plant is the company’s third manufacturing set up in India.
The plant has one BOPP and three thermal coating lines in order to cater to global demand which is more skewed towards coating films .In fact; the plant will also have a chemical coating and a metallizer line installed by October this year. The BRC certified plant has production capacity of 40,000 metric tonnes of BOPP and 9,600 metric tonnes of thermal laminated film. With this addition, the total installed capacity of the company has gone up to 1,30,000 MT p.a for BOPP, 40,000 MT p.a for thermal films and 8,000 MT p.a for metalized films.
“A separate plant with exports focus is very much in line with company’s intent to expand the global footprint; still on the path of consolidation.” said Pankaj Poddar, Chief Executive Officer, Cosmo Films.
