PHILADELPHIA -- The Race Dialogue Project (RDP) presents A(rt)CCEPTANCE, an art exhibition featuring University of Pennsylvania student, staff and faculty artwork, plus a special appearance by Soraida Martinez, creator of the socially-conscious art of Verdadism. Art Talk and Presentations, Thursday, April 24th, 5-7PM, at the Greenfield Intercultural Center (GIC). Exhibition ends May 19th. About Soraida Martinez:
For over two decades, Soraida has been teaching tolerance through her paintings and social commentaries on personal life experiences. The art of Verdadism addresses racism, sexism, stereotyping, ethnocentrism and unjust social conditions, in order to promote inclusion, diversity and positive social change.
About the RDP:
The Race Dialogue Project (RDP) is a grassroots community of students whose goal is to explore the impact of race in society. The mission of RDP is to create campus awareness regarding the ways in which individual experiences related to race fit into the context of a greater socio-political and economic framework. RDP does this through various discussions and collaborative events throughout the school year. The mission of the Race Dialogue Project is to raise awareness about issues of race both within and beyond our community, to break stereotypes, through dialogue and discussion of race, and to promote dialogue about race through the arts and through campus events
