CAP at New IIMs: The process of arriving at the final admission list
Devising a common criterion for short listing the candidates for final admission round, the responsibility of coordinating the Common Admission Process (CAP) 2014 was assigned to IIM Trichy.
CAP 2014 was unique with following main features:
-Individual IIMs namely IIM Kashipur, Ranchi, Raipur, Rohtak, Trichy and Udaipur prepared respective shortlists based on their short listing criteria. These shortlists were combined for further processing by the coordinating IIM Trichy.
-Names of such candidates as called for GDPIWAT process by IIM A, B, C, L & K were set aside from the combined list. The remaining candidates were called for GDPIWAT in CAP.
-The PI & WAT scores for candidates set aside from the common shortlist have been obtained from the respective older IIMs from which they had got interview calls. Those who were called by more than one older IIM have had their PI & WAT scores averaged across the IIMs where they appeared for interviewing.
- Admission status was made available on the Common Admission website of CAP coordinating IIM namely IIM Trichy.
Preparation of Final Merit List
-Each IIM would take the PI & WAT score of the candidates shortlisted by it. This score is to be combined with other scores – CAT score, Profile score and any other score to make its own individual merit list and then make final offers to the candidates.
- Only the PI and WAT have been conducted commonly by the six new IIMs. The final merit list of candidates would be arrived at and then declared by each IIM according to its own selection criteria. These criteria are available on the websites of the respective new IIMs.
