InDIGO-3, the third edition of the comprehensive denim B2B expo concluded successfully

InDIGO-3, the third edition of the one and only comprehensive denim B2B expo in Asia was inaugurated on 24th April, 2014 by Shri Virender Uppal, Chairman, AEPC, in the august presence of Shri H. K. L. Magu, Chairman Finance, AEPC and Dr. Darlie Koshy, Director General, IAM, ATDC, Institute.

The inaugural session was graced by Mr. Aamir Akhtar, CEO, Arvind Ltd., Mr. Enrico Ruhle, CEO and Managing Director, TUV Rheinland South Asia, Prof. Dr. Rajendrakumar Anayath, Director, The Technological Institute of Textile & Sciences, Mr. Prashant Aggarwal, Joint Managing Director, Wazir Advisors Pvt. Ltd. and Mr. Virender Goyal, Managing Director, Aplos Global Ltd., Hong Kong,

The focus of InDIGO-3 was on sustainability and it once again covered the denim value chain comprehensively, witnessing the participation of industry segment leaders, showcasing the best, and the latest products and solutions for sustainable production of denim, to professionals and decision makers from the entire denim fraternity, from India and abroad.

The participating companies in InDIGO-3 included A. Ganapathi Chettiar and R. P. Synthetics showcasing jeggings and other knit denim apparel items. R. P. Synthetics also showcased indigo dyed yarn and light weight denim fabrics in the range of 2.5 Oz - 6 Oz. additionally Kassim Denim (Pakistan), Modern Denim Ltd. and Nandan Denim Ltd. showcased a wide variety of innovative and sustainable denim fabrics.

Archroma India Pvt. Ltd., Atlantic Care Chemicals and Dystar India Pvt. Ltd. represented the dyes and chemicals segment showcasing solutions for sustainable production of denim fabric and garments. Glacier Garments and Washerman Garment Processing House represented the washing and laundry segment, Jayanti Lal S. Gandhi & Co. and Prashant Westpoint Machinery P. Ltd. represented the indigenous textile machinery manufacturer segment.

The presence and participation of Lectra Technologies India Pvt Ltd. added a lot of value to the show. Dr. Hari Kenkare, Marketing Coordinator, Lectra India, made a highly insightful presentation titled Denims in the Age of Technology - Does Fabric to Fit Solutions Approach Matter? The workshop offered denim companies a new perspective to look at the developments in the areas of fabric to fit, while saving every bit of fabric to improve efficiency. Business visitors were able to get answers to queries relating to testing and certification at the TUV Rheinland India stall. Preet Button and Fastener Industries and Pack Impex, manufacturers and suppliers of trims and accessories contributed by showcasing their specific offerings for the denim industry and Vikmans showcased scanners in sizes A4 to A0.

Are U Ace, Carpenter Jeans, Fashion Palette, Ficus Mercantile Ltd., Richlook India Pvt. Ltd., and Zaab Fashion, representing the RTW jeans segment, completed the picture.

The striking attraction of the event were denim garment based ramp-walks. Students from leading textile and fashion design institutes including Institute of Apparel Management, Gurgaon and The Technological Institute of Textile & Sciences, Bhiwani presented denim based collections designed by them. Participating denim brands including Carpenter Jeans and Rich Look India Pvt. Ltd. also sponsored ramp-walks presenting denim as a lifestyle concept.

The event also featured workshops focussing on various issues, specifically sustainability and innovations in the denim industry namely Intelligent innovations on indigo fading by Dr. Ravichandran L., Director, Atlantic Care Chemicals, presentation about Advanced Denim by Mr. Nirmal Punjabi, Head - Business Development, Dyes & Chemicals - India, Denim in Home Textiles by Mr. Kiran Panchal, President Marketing - Apparels, Modern Denim Limited, Cool Denim, by Prof. P. D. Kaushik, Srijan Creative Enterprises and Jeans production - Modern Developments in the sewing technology by Dr. Prabir Jana, NIFT, New Delhi.

The exclusive denim B2B event was visited by a large number of denim professionals including, business owners and senior decision makers from the various segments of the denim value chain.

Talking about the event Mr. R.
