CEO of AFC Asian Cup Australia 2015 to chair APWSW 2014 Advisory Board

The 2nd Biennial APWSW Conference is anticipated to bring together 600 representatives from international and national sports governing bodies, sporting associations, athletes, coaches, corporate partners and all practitioners in the sporting world, to discuss how to increase women’s involvement in the business of sport from grassroots participation to board level representation.

The conference program will be developed and assessed by the APWSW 2014 Advisory Board. Formed by stakeholders from all major sporting sectors, the Advisory Board will ensure that the agenda demonstrates the importance of women as a core target market to secure the future of sport.

Chairing the APWSW 2014 Advisory Board is the Chief Executive Officer of AFC Asian Cup Australia 2015 Local Organising Committee, Michael Brown. Mr. Brown has over 17 years of management experience in the corporate and elite sports sectors, including 10 years of service as the General Manager and Acting CEO of Cricket Australia.

“Australia has some of the best female athletes and administrators in the world, but they continue not to get the media attention or recognition they deserve.

“That’s why the Asia Pacific World Sport and Women Conference 2014 is important – to highlight the business of women in sport and to look at ways to increase women’s involvement at all levels,” Mr. Brown said.

“Having worked with top-notch women in the management of sport and with elite female athletes I’m proud to be helping drive change.” Mr. Brown adds.

The Asia Pacific World Sport and Women Conference will take place on the 27th and 28th October at Sydney Cricket Ground. To find out more about the event agenda and how to register, please visit http://www.apwsw.com.au/pr.
