MUMBAI, India -- Red Gold, an American film by Michael Keller premiered to a remarkable response in Garden State Film Festival at New Jersey, US. Join films successfully channelized resources and talents for the micro-budget shoot in India.
English feature film 'Red Gold' is an offbeat crime movie on illegal organ trading and a dream project of an Independent film maker Michael Keller from Gray Area Productions, Los Angeles. He wrote, photographed, directed and produced the film which was entirely shot in India on shoe-string budget of USD 10000. Join films not only helped, the Director in getting a passionate and dedicated crew within the limit of the budget but also ensured that shoot was completed in the 10-day schedule. More than 20 fresh faces from India got opportunity to act in this international project.
Michael Keller said, “I had a dream, sitting in LA (USA) to work on this Film "Red Gold" based on the slums of the city Mumbai in India! I was really apprehensive about how it would happen and from where to start the implementation until I met the Join films team and to my surprise they took up the challenge to make this film within my budget, casting requirements, local arrangements, permissions etc successfully in the limited time frame and resources available. I just want to thank you for your dedication and hard work. It would not have been possible without your skill, resourcefulness and insider knowledge. Film production is a highly specialized technical field that requires high degree of professionalism. Many people who have idea or money and are eager to become film makers are not aware about the film production details and complications so get stuck with the projects that they are unable to complete. Only with truly specialized guidance and devoted team the difficulties of production can be overcome to take the film to a stage where it can be released and appreciated.
Like Red Gold required shooting location of a slum in Mumbai and it was difficult to get the right location without shelling out huge amount of capital as shooting in the slums of Mumbai is truly expensive for International projects and here there were specific budget constraints. But because of this problem the project was not aborted. Rather Join films arranged movie to be successfully shot in Vasai, a suburb near Mumbai in Thane district that provided similar look and feel for the location. After all the efforts it is good to see that the film was actually praised in the film festival.
Shivam Sharma and Mayur Bansal from talent bank of join films got an opportunity to play protagonist roles in the film that kick started their successful career in media. “I worked on 'Red Gold,' line-produced by join films and I had such an enriching time. The project was dealt with utmost sincerity, the production team was very supportive, and I just had a great time shooting the film”, said Shivam Sharma while Mayur Bansal also shared likewise experience, “It was a great experience working in "Red Gold" in which I played the character, Sabal.
