NEW YORK -- Please donate to New Future Foundation Inc. Emergency Water Project. New Future Foundation was founded by Queen Mother Dr. Delois Blakely. We are currently raising money thorough the accredited crowd sourcing site GoFundMe. The Emergency Water Project is located In the Forole Border region, Marsabit, Kenya. The area is very arid and receives very low and scarce rainfall of between 200-400mm per year. In this region they do not have water. Women have to walk 22hours (10 hours one way and 12 hours back because they have to go over a mountain) to fetch water for their families. They have to make this trip every four days. They can only bring back so much of it because of the length of the trip and the five gallons of water on their backs. They are currently in their drought season and it last until April which makes it harder for them to find water. The community has had over 20 deaths since January 1, 2014 due to water inefficiency, mostly elderly and children. We are looking to raise the money so we can start delivering emergency water (immediately) to three locales in the Forole region, and also install at least three water tanks before the rainy season begins in April 2014. The tanks will allow them to collect the rain water which they can use for a couple of months, then the woman are back to fetching the water.
The immediate goals and objectives for the project are as follows, provide clean water to three locations in the region, reduce the devastating effect of drought on the region. This will help reduce the death rate and create sustainable water facilities to retain fresh water during the rainy season. With the proper funds they will be able to contribute to drought mitigation measures and capacity building for the nomadic pastoralist communities of the Kenya border region through access to reliable water source and supply, as well as better hygiene and sanitation facilities in a well-managed and peaceful environment. The long-term goal is to create an irrigation system, which will eliminate the task of fetching water over far distances.
