DELHI/NCR, India -- Scraper websites-those sites that copy content of other people's website and post it under their own name-have been unfortunately, enjoying the prominence name in the digital marketing world. Even though, logically, the original content should get rank number one for the content as they are the originating source but often times you will find that scraper websites are ranking high above the originator. In some cases, the original source of content even gets vanished from the search results, while a scraper site's version continues to rank high on search results.
To curb the problem, Matt Cutts, Google head of search spam, has created a doc form, called 'scrapper report form', where you can submit the details of scraper websites to inform Google about those websites that have copied your content. The form will ask you to fill the source URL, i.e, the original content creator and the URL of the page where duplicate content is published. Mr.Foyzul Alom Choudhury, Manager, Simpliti, says that scraper websites aren't necessarily ranking for the high keywords but there high prevalence is enough to clutter up the search results after the top 10 results or so.
Matt Cutts on the other hand, is also asking webmasters to confirm that their website is following the webmaster guidelines before submitting the doc form. “Many times, it has been seen that scraper websites rank high on search results by using different ways in conjunction with spamming methods and Google's new initiative will help original content generator source and will keep scraper content out of the Google's search results,” quoted Mr. Foyzul Alom Choudhury.
