JAKARTA BARAT, Indonesia -- Singapore School Kebon Jeruk has always had a holistic view of student development encompassing academics, physical challenge and personal development. This has ensured the secondary students (aged 12 to 17) recently had access to a wide variety of visiting guest speakers, organisations, events and challenges. Most recently the Australian Beef Council chose Singapore School Kebon Jeruk to participate in the national cook-off trials.
Participating were students from Secondary One, Two and Three. Each child was placed in a group and given a rigorous challenge to achieve a specific dish. Each group had their food judged by an expert chef who rated not only the final meal but also the process of developing the recipe and effectively using ingredients.
In attendance were judges from the teaching staff including Mr Roy from the USA, Ms Lana from Belarus, Mr Raj from the United Kingdom and Mr Craig from New Zealand.
Says the Head Teacher, Craig Hansen “We are always delighted to provide an opportunity for international companies and competitions to be part of our students’ learning experiences. Because we have such an international staff with teachers from America, Europe, London, China, Asia and Australasia it made sense to have them participate in the fun. We are very proud that our students are passionate about trying new things and will represent this region at the national cook-off in Jakarta. As a School that is proud of our international curriculum and high academic results, it made sense to work with the Australian Beef Council and give our students the chance to showcase their talents.”
