CMAT 2014 Feb: Second day exam analysis; Important tips for third day of CMAT Feb 2014

DELHI, India -- CMAT 2014 FEB exam on February 21, 2014 was not much different from the first day. A few questions in English language comprehension grew a little more difficult than the first day while focus of General awareness on the second day of CMAT 2014 (http://www.mbauniverse.com/article/id/7526/CMAT_Feb_2014_exam) FEB remained on current affairs.

Quant and DI

Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation section had the questions on less prominent topics. Percentage, ratios, Geometry, Algebra figured in the test. Aspirants usually keep these sections as second tier ones and devote more of their learning and practicing on other sections. Although Quant was not tough but it became a little more time consuming for most of the aspirants. Dependence on Permutation-combination, probability, was throwing the candidates out of focus. Candidates with core technical background and expert in mathematics could do better while relatively the aspirants with good understanding and systematic approach to solve geometrical problems and good at algebra, not having core knowledge of more intricate mathematical concepts couldn’t score so well.

The notion has relevance to the candidates coming from commerce, arts, humanities, biological background, where the representation of female candidates is also more than the Engineering and other related technical streams.

The important tip for the remaining two days of CMAT Feb 2014 (http://www.mbauniverse.com/article/id/7526/CMAT_Feb_2014_...) exam is to devote a little more time in practicing the forgotten topics. Those who wish to crack Quant in forthcoming sessions, must practice more.

Language comprehension

English language comprehension on the second day of CMAT 2014 FEB brought a little different shape before the aspirants. Although it had same number of 25 questions on core English grammar, use of synonyms and antonyms, fill in the blanks, short but tricky jumbled sentences, and more number of short Reading comprehension passages of 150-200 words, the section suddenly shifted its stand from moderate to difficult. An attempt of 18-20 questions would be rated as good. CMAT 2014 FEB has not placed any surprise element in the test.

Logical reasoning

The 25 questions in this section had more questions on arrangements, statements assumptions, analogy and statement conclusions. While the overall section was not so difficult a few questions were tricky enough and consumed more time than expected. Nevertheless, aspirants were able to crack 20-22 questions managing the time well in this section.

General Awareness

MBAUniverse.com has already shared with the CMAT 2014 FEB aspirants to stop learning current affairs that happened a fortnight ahead of the CMAT FEB 2014 exam, since the test paper is prepared prior to that. However the need is to continue revising whatever you have learnt .

Most of the questions in this section were focused on current affairs, sports, economy and conventional general knowledge. Questions on International events, appointments, books and authors were also present. More questions were based on the happenings in the year 2012 and 2013. An attempt of 20 to 22 questions in this section could be rated as good to be placed in high merit.

Shed the forgetfulness

1. ATTESTED COPY of CMAT 2014-15 (Second Test) Admit Card with recent passport size photo pasted on it.

2. At least one original (not photocopied/scanned copy) and valid (not expired) photo identification.

3. SC/ST candidates are required to bring the valid caste certificate in original and an attested photocopy.

4. Physically Disabled candidates are required to bring the valid Disability certificate in original and an attested photocopy.
