Wear to Care campaign by Greenwood High students on Cancer Day

BANGALORE, India -- Grade 11 IB (International Baccalaureate) students from Greenwood High International School has attempted to contribute to a cause they believe in, one that affects millions of people worldwide, and is definitely worth fighting for it. As February 4th is World Cancer Day, students of Greenwood High decided that it would be an appropriate time to launch this campaign. The Wear to Care campaign as they call it, aims to raise funds for two selected cancer homes in Bangalore that may lack the resources to give their patients the care that they need. In order to raise money for cause, students organized a mufti day, in which students from the IB & IGCSE board of the school sported colours representing the different types of cancer, spreading awareness about the seriousness of the disease.

Each grade was assigned a different colour and every child has contributed Rs. 100 to the cause. Their second fundraising idea was to sell customized wristbands in lavender, the colour of all cancers. The wristbands are sold for Rs. 50 each and had the words ‘Wear to Care, GWH Fights Cancer’ printed on them. On the first day of the campaign, students raised nearly 25 thousand, which is halfway to their goal of Rs. 50,000. They intend to continue the campaign for the rest of the week and sincerely hoping to make a difference in the community.

Campaign Organizers: Ayesha Saleem, Disha Patil, Christine Zacharia, Sneha Desa & Varsha Srinivasa
