BANGALORE, India -- iWave Systems, a complete hardware and software embedded solutions provider upgrading the Android Jelly Bean 4.3 BSP for its i.MX6 Quad/Dual/Dual-lite/Solo based Qseven platforms. This BSP upgrade will be available for its customer from end of Jan 2014.
Android 4.3 is a sweeter version of Jelly Bean which includes performance optimizations and offers lot of new features for users and developers.
Android 4.3 builds on the performance improvements like vsync timing, triple buffering, reduced touch latency, CPU input boost, and hardware-accelerated 2D rendering — and adds new optimizations that make Android much faster. Its improved window buffer allocation results in a faster image buffer allocation for Android apps, reducing the time taken to start rendering when anyone create a window.
For highest-performance graphics, Android 4.3 introduces support for OpenGL ES 3.0 and makes it accessible to apps through both framework and native APIs. On supported devices, the hardware accelerated 2D rendering engine takes advantage of OpenGL ES 3.0 to optimize texture management and increase gradient rendering fidelity.
The i.MX 6 series of applications processors targeted for multimedia application unleashes a scalable multicore platform which includes single-, dual- and quad-core families based on the power-efficient processing capabilities of the ARM Cortex-A9 architecture combining with bleeding edge 3D and 2D graphics, and high-definition video.
The i.MX6 multimedia applications processor running Android is an excellent platform for building a high-performance, low-power and cost-effective handheld devices for several applications. iWave enables the customers with integrated hardware/software solutions to realize faster time to market, and the Android platform provides a compelling and innovative end user experience to support this effort. Using a layered approach with the right selection of components to interface into the Android stack results in a more complete and ready solution. Customers will be able to directly develop applications on this integrated solution or easily modify their own drivers based on iWave provided Android 4.3 BSP.
The iWave’s iMX6 Jellybean 4.3 BSP support includes following features:
One can control and interact with the status bar notifications. This would allow users to control how notifications are pushed to the primary and connected devices (smart watches, fitness bands).
Users will also be able to see all the notifications at one place.
