OXFORD, U.K. -- Flanked by 7 security guards, the Drum N Bass legend that is Goldie rolled into Banbury on a cold winters night on the 6th of December 2013. If the sheer presence of a Drum N Bass icon wasn't enough to draw a crowd, then surely film credits including: James Bond (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Bond) film The World Is Not Enough (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_World_Is_Not_Enough), Guy Ritchie (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guy_Ritchie)'s Snatch (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snatch_%28film%29) and the British soap opera Eastenders should have done. The venue was Hype, formerly known as Chapel, 52 degrees North and Goldie who was due to perform at 1am, eventually made it on at 2am. Most of crowd had been busy down the road watching rising star KRISG184 who was, by the way, in scintillating form. Goldie didn't disappoint. The crowd were warmed up by some hard hitting, biting Drum N Bass, but Goldie didn't need to smash the sound system to pieces, he just carefully manipulated it to produce a wonderfully rich blend of sub bass, bass and drums. This was a master at work. Seemless mixes, the occassional MC foray and, of course, the smile, which lit up the venue. Goldie, dropping hit after hit.

There was a sense of recession about the set, the early 90's mood was back. This was a night for one genius. The only Drum N Bass genius who, after 20 years on the global stage, still has quality that only stars possess.
