BANGALORE, India -- The Jain Global Campus was bustling with high voltage energy and emotions as Jain University felicitated the academic achievers of 2013 batch of graduates at its 3rd Annual Convocation. 2281 meritorious students from Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Research programmes were awarded degrees and 91 rank holders and 40 gold medallists were felicitated by Padma Bhushan Shri Nandan Nilekani, Chairman of the Unique Identification Authority of India,Dr. Chenraj Roychand, President, Jain University Trust, Dr. C G Krishnadas Nair, Chancellor, Jain University and Dr. N Sundararajan, Vice Chancellor, Jain University.
Dr. N Sundararajan, Vice Chancellor, Jain University gave the welcome address. During his inspiring address, he shared the progress report of the university and extended his wishes to the students. “We are confident that our students will be able to meet all the challenges faced by them. Our convocation reflects Jain University’s efforts in creating future professionals who will strive to bring about a positive change around them,” he said.
The Chief Guest of the ceremony, Padma Bhushan Shri Nandan Nilekani, Chairman of the UIDAI said, ‘If the 20th century was about hierarchy, the 21st is about networks. The people, who have the most opportunities today, are the ones who collaborate and build the largest and most diverse networks’. He added, throughout your life, your peers will be important sources of ideas, information, and different perspectives on the world. The larger the network of people you are connected with, the greater your chance of understanding what is happening around you.
The special addition to the 3rd Annual Convocation was the conferring of 4 Ph.D. degrees to women from 4 different disciplines.
Dr. Prakriti who was awarded Ph.D. degree for her thesis on “Emergence of the feminist from feminism in the late Victorian fiction” said, Jain University offered unconditional support and encouragement. The University’s rigorous research culture has helped me tremendously during my research period, my experience at Jain University has taught me to strive, move ahead and succeed”.
Pradeep Kumar, M.Tech Gold Medallist who aspires to work for NASA in the future, said”Jain University’s unique curriculum and the tremendous support from the teachers and the coaching helped me achieve the gold medal. I am deeply thankful to the University for the support.”
A large gathering comprising the graduating students, their parents, guests from the industry,Members of the Board of Management & Academic Council, deans of faculty and staff of Jain University, special invitees attended the grand ceremony.
