JOHANNESBURG, South Africa -- As a way of showing loyal customers that it cares, Maxi’s Facebook fan of the month gets to pick a charity which the nationwide chain of family restaurants will support.

Elsie Jacobs worked very hard to be selected as Maxi’s Facebook fan of the month so that she could help the Bambino Crèche in Danville Pretoria.

With being Christmas just around the corner, Maxi’s recently brought a smile to the children’s faces by throwing them a fantastic party filled with yummy burgers, fruit juices, balloons, plenty of toys and of course, Santa Clause!

“As soon as I saw that Maxi’s was giving back, I thought of these children and I made it my mission to win! I can’t name any other restaurants that do this and today Maxi’s went beyond my expectations and literally gave these children full tummies and big smiles to go home with! They gave them a day that they will never forget, thank you Maxi’s!” states Jacobs.

Silvia Buthelezi, the principal of Bambino Crèche says she was overjoyed to see her children so excited. “As many of my learners do not come from money, for them Christmas is just another day, or mostly a day that they try to forget. Today, Maxi’s changed all of that and gave them a Christmas party that they will fondly remember for the rest of their lives.”

Bambino Crèche is operated by Buthelezi and her few staff members, and runs on the bits of funding that they receive to provide their learners with two meals per day. For most of their learners, these are the only meals that they get to eat daily.

Bronwyn Oliveira, brand manager of Maxi’s, adds that the reaction of the children was what made it all worth it. “Seeing those little eyes light up, smiles stretching from ear-to-ear and receiving hundreds of hugs, makes these types of corporate activities meaningful. If that is not enough to make it worth a corporate’s while, then I don’t know what else will.”
