SAN FRANCISCO -- Power ng Pinoy, in partnership with Cheryl Burke Dance and The Philippine American Press Club, presents “Bay Area Handog Pamasko Christmas Benefit Drive” from 5pm-10pm on Sunday, December 15, at Cheryl Burke Dance Studio, 1400 North Shoreline Boulevard, Suite A1, in Mountain View, California.
This Christmas benefit dance, all proceeds of which go to the typhoon victims, is a heartfelt effort to help and give hope to fellow Filipinos homeland who lost loved ones, homes and belongings in the most powerful and devastating storms in recorded history.
Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) struck Central Philippines on November 8, 2013. Its huge waves swept away coastal villages, killed thousands and wreaked horrible damage to homes, structures and roads in its wake. After several days, the storm left thousands of survivors homeless, hungry, thirsty, thankfully alive but with nothing left and nowhere to go. The sad plight of the typhoon victims spawned global goodwill, the world poured out resources, manpower, prayers and love to the Philippines. Filipinos migrants all over the world have also come together to help their fellow countrymen in this time of need.
Hosting “Bay Area Handog Pamasko Christmas Benefit Dance” are popular celebrities Bernardo Bernardo, Fe Delos Reyes, and Sansu Ramsey. The dance will feature live entertainment, dance exhibitions, raffle drawing, dancing and more. Light refreshment will also be provided.

This benefit dance is part of the overall fundraising campaign led by Power ng Pinoy. The cast and crew, along with volunteers, also held a series of weekend relief drives at various locations in the Bay Area where in-kind donations were received from Filipino and non-Filipino donors alike. More than 150 large balikbayan boxes filled with relief goods (clothes, shoes, canned goods, blankets, etc.) were collected at Island Pacific in Milpitas (11/16), Union City (11/17) and Vallejo (11/23). The benefit drives were organized in cooperation with Island Pacific, LBC Foundation, Project Pearls and Philippine Red Cross.
This fundraising campaign embodies Power ng Pinoy's general advocacy to provide assistance to fellow Filipinos in the home country by mobilizing grassroots volunteerism from U.S. based Filipinos in the local communities.
