High and Mighty have carried out a survey to look into the Christmas shopping habits of our every day man and there are some surprising results....
• The average amount of money spent by a man on their partner at Christmas in London and the midlands is £500, where the North East and North West ranges from £100 - £500
• 15% of the men in the North West of England don’t spend anything on their partners
• Contrary to popular belief 14% of men started their Christmas shopping in the summer, and only 3% living up to reputation of the Christmas Eve panic purchase!
• 38% of men start their Christmas shopping in November, 25% in December
• In comparison 21% of women start their Christmas shopping in the summer and 0.1% panic buy the day before! 10% of women are still shopping in December
• Women are more likely to split their shopping online and instore,as men are more likely to shop at the click of a mouse than venture to the local high street
• The UK was split into regional shopping preferences:
o London shoppers are more likely to pop instore than online
o Midlands hit the etailers over retailers
o North East of England have a balance of 50/50
o North West are online shopping fans
• 74% of women, and 70% of men would not buy their partners a Christmas present if they could get away with it. Only 14% of women and 17% of men would still buy a present out of choice
• When buying presents, 64% of women put a lot of effort into their presents with 48% of men trying to find the right gift.
• 34% of men admit to not putting any effort into their gifts.
• Socks, pants, slippers and cuffinks top the preferred gift list for men, with ties and nightwear coming in as the least desirable.
• Men prefer style over substance on receiving Christmas presents, with 98.2% not wanting a novelty present.
