Polls reveal the malaise that’s gripping the nation, says AMAC

WASHINGTON, DC – “According to the polls, Christmas this year will not be as Merry as it should be for most Americans,” according to conservative activist Dan Weber.

He attributes the “nation’s malaise” to what he called the “shoddy and deceitful way” the people are being treated by big government and referenced the spate of scandals that have rocked the White House in recent months.

Weber, who is president of the Association of Mature American Citizens, cited a statement by Wal-Mart just a few days ago “suggesting that Obamacare may be a principal reason why Christmas shoppers have shorter lists this year. This week, too, Gallup published one study that indicated 63% of us are disenchanted with the realities of Obamacare and another that showed 80% of Americans are none too happy with the state of the Union in general.”

Chris Christopher, director of consumer economics at the IHS Global Insight consulting firm, believes it is not just Obamacare that has put a damper on the holidays this year. He said that it is an overall loss of confidence that is to blame, perhaps exacerbated by the prospects of higher health care costs next year due to Affordable Care Act.

“Add to that the general suspicion that the president may have been telling us outright lies about Obamacare and its benefits all along and you’ve got the makings of a not so jolly Christmas,” Weber commented.

He added that “it is not so surprising that a nation that treasures its independent spirit, its heritage and its values balks at the prospect of bureaucrats telling us how to live. We’re being led down the road to a promised land that doesn’t exist—a Utopian Socialist State in which it is the government that decides what’s right and wrong. We’re a country founded on conservative principles, not liberal ideologies. We are a people that want to think for ourselves and who want to choose for ourselves and with a little help from God and the voters we can begin to change things in Washington come November 2014.”

The Association of Mature American Citizens [http://www.amac.us] is a vibrant, vital and conservative alternative to those organizations, such as AARP, that dominate the choices for mature Americans who want a say in the future of the nation. Where those other organizations may boast of their power to set the agendas for their memberships, AMAC takes its marching orders from its members. We act and speak on their behalf, protecting their interests, and offering a conservative insight on how to best solve the problems they face today.
