FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- Decoupage Madness has hit a wall. A wonderful one, now filled with framed pieces of fun. The art has morphed from its earlier roots of recycled objects to primarily framed as well as works on canvas, still using recycled magazines and books as before. All of the quirky humor is present as expected from Hannah Esty McEwen, the artist/creator. Her work is filled with surreal characters, such as a Polar bear in a ballgown explaining how she only dusts once a year whether she needs to or not. These works are unique for many reasons, one is they are created entirely from bits and pieces, pulled from 100's of old magazines and books, upcycled into collages depicting wonderful, new worlds, featuring colorful characters with rediculous quips that tend to bring a smile and sometimes bursts of laughter. All of her pieces have a play on words for their titles. The above mentioned Polar bear is called "Dusty Miller".
Hannah will be one of the featured artists at the 'Art In The Barn' event at Chestnut Hill Farm, Saturday December 7, in Southborough Massachusetts.
