California Governor Candidate Robert Ornelas Pays A Visit To Students At Chaffey High School

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Chaffey High School is a public high school in Ontario, California. Dr. Ornelas was invited by Chaffey History teacher Mr. Oscar Segovia to be a guest speaker on Thursday November 7th. Ornelas was introduced to Mr. Segovia through Chaffey High Bible Club leader Esther Escobedo. It was a time of inspirational speaking along with live performance by international Hip Hop group The S.O.G. Crew.

"It was such a pleasure to speak to the students of Chaffey High. The students of the Chicano History classes were completely open to my testimonial and to the story of my life. They have been studying the Mexican-American War that took place between 1846 and1848. The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo which brought an official end to the Mexican-American War was signed on February 2, 1848, at Guadalupe Hidalgo. I shared with students of my families involvement with that peace treaty in the mid 1800s. My message to them was of higher education and of discipline. I encouraged the Latino students to hold on because California was climbing out of debt and that they were going to experience greater educational opportunities. Overall it was a time of inspiration for all of us. Many thanks to Chaffey Bible Club leader Esther Escobedo, Mr. Segovia, Principal Buboltz and to the The Chaffey Joint Union High School District," stated Dr. Robert Ornelas current candidate for California Governor
