Nexenta (http://www.nexenta.com/) (@Nexenta), the global leader in Software-Defined Storage (SDS) (#softwaredefinedstorage) solutions, today announced the appointment of Phil Underwood as Chief Operating Officer.

Phil joins Nexenta following seven years at Wyse Technology, where he held the same position. During his tenure at Wyse, Phil functioned as a pivotal part of the executive management team, reporting directly to the CEO. Phil joined Wyse in 2006 to help improve execution and streamline the company's operational model. In 2012, Dell acquired Wyse. Prior to his years at Wyse, Phil held executive positions at IPLocks, MARGI Systems Inc., and ITT. Phil brings nearly 30 years of experience in the IT industry around improving operations, growing market share and strategic business development with a strong financial and operational management background. Phil also led several strategic programs around customer, partner and M&A transactions.

"We are absolutely thrilled to have Phil Underwood joining Nexenta, as we continue to extend our leadership in this fast growing market. Phil’s proven success record in leading operations, financial discipline and overall execution will help us grow our business even faster in every dimension of our strategy and roadmap," according to Tarkan Maner, CEO of Nexenta. "This is an important position at Nexenta, at an important juncture in our growth, and I can't underestimate how excited we are to be working with Phil again."

"I’m excited to join the team at Nexenta, and to help expand the company's leadership in the SDS market," said Mr. Underwood. "As drivers around social media, mobility, big data, and virtualisation-centric cloud computing increase the demand on storage, Nexenta's advanced software solution managing complex storage environments on commodity hardware puts the company in this dynamic, high-growth space."
