25/10/2013 – Radio Design Wins India’s Aegis Graham Bell Award 2013

GURGAON, India -- Radio Design is both delighted and proud to win the “Innovation In Network Sharing” Aegis Graham Bell Award 2013,

The Aegis Graham Bell Awards, promoting innovation and entrepreneurship, and India’s most important awards in the fields of TIME (Telecom, Internet, Media and Edutainment) were held on 25th October 2013 at the NDMC Convention center in New Delhi. The awards honored the best innovations in the fields of TIME and were initiated by the Aegis School of Business, Telecom and Convergence India, with support from COAI [the Cellular Operators Association of India], mUniversity as powered partner and Ontario Canada as international partner. PwC was the knowledge partner who validated the awards

Dignitaries from the Indian telecom industry, including CXOs of top operators, industry bodies and government and regulatory authorities witnessed as Gaurav Chauhan, Director – Radio Design India Private Limited accepted the award. This year organizers received more than 140 nominations from over 80 companies in two jury rounds. The nominations were evaluated by a jury consisting of eminent personalities with PwC, the knowledge partner, validating the final awards. Radio Design won the award in the category “Network Sharing,” where the two final nominees were Radio Design ("Site Sharing Filter Combiners") and NSN ("Flexi Compact Base Station")

Radio Design is an independent, privately-owned UK-based company – Specialising in the design/manufacture of RF filter systems products for the worldwide wireless communications market

Company with a team boasting nearly 500 man/years filter systems design and manufacturing expertise make unique/bespoke products for specific applications, not ‘me-too’ commodities. Radio Design’s patented filter combiner solution are deployed inthe world’s largest shared network, 2011, won Queen’s Award for Enterprise, Innovation and last year they were the sole supplier of Multi Operator Antenna Sharing Filter Combiners in London 2012 Olympics. Radio Design hasworldwide footprints withfacilities in the UK, India, Finland and China

“11” Operators and “4” Tower companies in India - have approved, installed and tested Radio Design Filter Combiners.Currently, in the Indian Market, talk of site sharing is limited to tower sharing only i.e. multiple operators come on single tower and then share those towers by installing their own antennas and feeder cables, this way tower become loaded, bulky and not all operators can be accommodated on same tower, further each operator has to invest in antenna and feeders separately. However, with Radio Design’s technologies, site sharing evolves to the next level, where operators’ savings are not just limited to the cost of the tower; they can eliminate the costs of antennas, RF feeder cables and TMAs too, with a host of additional advantages.

We are not just talking about a ‘standard’ 2G/3G diplexer [a simple low-cost commodity product that already exists] – we specialize in customized, technically complex solutions that give optimum performance and ultimate cost-savings. If operators radiate in different frequency bands, antenna/feeder sharing can be fairly straightforward but, if operators transmit/receive in the same band, then sharing antennas and feeders is very challenging – this is what Radio Design do. In India most 2G operators are in the 1800 band and, with Radio Design’s filter combiner technology, we can combine multiple 1800 operators and/or 1800 and 2100 operators onto a single feeder cable and antenna.
