Palm Coast, FL – Flagler Dental Associates is once again offering one dollar per pound of candy that trick-or-treaters drop off art their two Palm Coast offices to encourage healthy teeth and gums this Halloween.

"If kids ‘ditched their candy for a dollar’," says Dr. Ryan Smith, one of four dentists with Flagler Dental Associates. “They would give their teeth a much-needed healthy boost and potentially avoid future cavities,” he said.
Sugar contributes to weight gain, increases cholesterol, and raises the risk of various heart problems in children. It also accounts for a third of new cases of diabetes in the United States and a quarter of cases worldwide. In some cases, certain types of candy can also lead to broken teeth and damaged braces.

Sweet treats will be collected at Flagler Dental Associates from November 1-10 at both Flagler Dental Offices. The candy collected – all of which must be unopened – will be shipped to troops overseas.
