SANTA CLARITA, Calif. -- FilmWorks Entertainment brings Indian and Latino cultures together with the nationwide release of Director Jai Walia’s romantic comedy “Pendejo (Idiot)” .
Jai (Raja Fenske), a spoiled party-boy, living the highlife at his wealthy father's expense is forced to stare real life in the face when he's given an ultimatum – stop being a slacker and work as a janitor at the family company or lose his inheritance. Reluctantly, Jai tries to adapt to his new role in life but it isn't long before he realizes that being a grown-up isn't all that bad!
Working at the family business, Jai meets Jenny (Fernanda Romero) the beautiful receptionist and quickly falls for her. The problem is that now Jai has to win her over, not as the owner’s son but as a working man of little means. And if that’s not enough, Jai also has to impress Jenny’s gangster dad, Pedro (Danny Trejo) and convince him that he is worthy of dating Jenny all while not getting shot!
Throw in a miniature horse, a crazy company Christmas party, illegal immigrant- smuggling, a police chase and some zany antics and you are in for a ton of laughs.
The cast includes Raja Fenske (Nickelodeon's "Unfabulous"), Fernanda Romero ("The Eye"), Laksh Singh ("Little Fockers"), Darlene Vazquetelles ("Kings of South Beach") and Sevier Crespo ("Fast Lane").
"I'm excited about this film. It has a unique style and addresses both the Indian and Latin cultures, which required we assemble a special group of actors for the cast," says Walia. "It was a pleasure to collaborate with these talented individuals”.
“Pendejo” marks Walia's debut as a feature-film director. Walia previously directed a series of short films, including "In the Foxhole," which premiered in film festivals from New York to Los Angeles and aired on the Hallmark Movie Channel as part of the Film Positive initiative.
