TORONTO, Canada -- Here are some recently release statistic about the pedorthics profession in Canada and the practice of Canadian pedorthists.

-The annual income of a pedorthist in Canada depends on the type of practice (employee vs. self-employed), number of hours worked, and how busy a practice is. According to statistics gathered in 2009:

45% of pedorthists earned $35,000 - $60,000
25% earned between $60,000 - $100,000 per year
15% of members earn more than $100,000 per year

-There are approximately 450 pedorthists in Canada.

-Practice location:

-60% of pedorthists are in Ontario
25% in Western Canada
15% in Eastern Canada (not including Ontario)

-Practice style:

55% of pedorthists are self employed in private practice
30% are employed by a pedorthic clinic
10% are employed in a healthcare facility

-At this time pedorthics is not a regulated health profession in Ontario as defined by the Regulated Health Professions Act of Ontario.

-Ontario pedorthists are supervised by The College of Certified Pedorthists of Ontario
