WILDAU, Germany -- For the noise reduction research of leading aero engine manufacturers AneCom AeroTest tested an innovative aero engine FAN in its anechoic chamber. The tests included the examination of several components before and behind the FAN and their impact on dynamical and acoustic characteristics. With the help of the quickly convertible UFFA-Rig (Universal Fan Facility for Acoustics-Rig) the tests could be accomplished within a very short time.
“We are pleased to contribute this way to the noise reduction research of the main aero engine manufacturers”, said Dr. Ahlers, CEO of AneCom AeroTest. According to BDL-President Klaus-Peter Siegloch the manufacturers are in charge: “Noisemakers are obliged to do their best to reduce the exposure of people as much as possible”. The noise reduction at source is the most effective and consequently the most important noise abatement measure, compared with the isolation of the noise source with barriers and the passive noise protection, i.e. structural measures on buildings like sound insulating windows.
